A long time ago (well, 2009) in an office in the basement of Denton’s Texas building this little agency called Square 205 got its start (Ok technically we were Storied Productions at this point). We were brand new to the agency world and knew just enough about branding, websites, and media production to get into trouble.
In fact, we did get into trouble more than a few times. We had to learn how to budget, how to manage expectations, how to fix IT issues, when to walk away from bad business, when to negotiate and make a deal happen, when to hire or to let go, and there’s been a lot of lessons learned along the way.
Also along the way, as with any startup, we have experienced our fair share of ups and downs. Less than a full year ago, we were making decisions on how to downsize and cut costs. We decided to move out of an oversized office space and into a co-working office (We love you Techmill) and our employed team got smaller, but what also happened was we got stronger.
Square 205 has spent the last 8 months recovering, refocusing, reconnecting, and generally growing in strength.
Our brand will be focusing primarily on digital projects going forward. This includes beautiful websites, exceptional apps, evocative video and photography, and effective digital advertising. A focus on digital or interactive projects ensures we can deliver these projects faster, for less cost, more reliably, while maintaining the creative quality we’ve become known for.
We still love branding, print design, and other marketing services but in business, a strong focus is what leads to strong results.
The Denton creative and tech community is not only growing in people but the quality of projects. You don’t have to look farther than the satellite and software startup Kubos who will be bringing open-source technologies to nano-satellites in the very near future. Square 205 will not be left behind but instead will be a part of the leading edge.
Soon we’ll be launching several creative projects many of which are for this great Denton community. We’re continuing to update and upgrade our new website Square205.com which we soft launched this summer. Visit us there or follow us on Twitter and Facebook to learn more about the exciting projects we’re working on.
